After the Central Texas fires from last week, I have a whole new perspective on gratitude.
We take so many things in life for granted - the ability to walk, a home to live in, family to love us, friends to enjoy life with. The list could go on and on.
Most of these things just work for us, in the background, enriching the fabric of our lives.
But sometimes our world gets jolted. An accident reduces our mobility. A fire destroys our home. Family members die. Friends become ill. Events happen that destroy friendships.
I have much to be thankful for right now. My prayer tonight: Father, keep me mindful of the little things in life that enrich my life beyond measure.
